Decentralised Network
for Unreleased Music Files

1. How it Works

  1. Your device connects to the central registry.
  2. Your device retrieves the details of the nodes that host the file.
  3. Your device connects to the node and requests the file.
  4. The file is checked against its hash, and saved to your device.

2. What Are Nodes?

Tempo is based upon a system of nodes.
Whenever a file is added to the central registry, it is uploaded to a node.

This node can be our own public node, made for the community, or somebody else's node.

Since anyone can host a node, this system is decentralised.

The central registry is not required, but it is useful for finding files easily.
As long as you have the hash and node details, you can download the file.

3. What Stops Nodes from Serving up Malware?

Before a file is saved, it is hashed, and the hash is checked.

If the hash does not match, the file is automatically deleted, and the node is blacklisted.

If the original file itself has malware, it can be removed from the central registry by reporting the file.

4. About Us

Tempo was created by people with a strong passion for music.

Tempo hopes to create a community with like-minded individuals.

Tempo is still in beta phase, and so, features are going to roll out slowly (including self-hosted nodes), so for now, all data will be stored on a node, provided by our sponsor: SlideMovies.org
